A relatively large proportion of dogs presenting with urethral sphincter mecanism incompetence (USMI) will be successfully treated with medical management. However, some will fail to respond to this management, from beginning or over time. Several surgical options are then available to successfully manage the remaining/recurring urinary incontinence associated with USMI.
