Polycythaemia is an uncommon presentation in veterinary medicine. This lecture will identify the common primary and secondary causes of polycythaemia and will demonstrate a logical approach to the investigation and management of these cases. In particular the lecture will consider how to differentiate between appropriate (secondary) polycythaemia and inappropriate (primary) polycythaemia using case examples.
