Currently, there is no cure for CDS. Therefore, our therapeutic plan will have three main objectives: Improving clinical signs of CDS in order to improve the welfare of the patient and the owner, slowing the progression of this condition, and preventing or slowing the appearance of dementia. One has to bear in mind that the patient can be suffering some organic condition, can be receiving multiple drugs and is probably suffering anxiety. Thus, our treatment will be orientated towards the underlying conditions, reduction of the stress and the alleviation of CDS signs using four key therapeutic approaches: Environmental enrichment and behavioural guidelines, drug treatment, supplements and dietary intervention. There are four targets: Improving cerebral metabolism, improving neuronal transmission, reducing oxidative damage, and helping to maintain neuronal integrity.
