The critical patient presents unique management challenges during post anesthesia recovery that are important to understand and manage for successful outcome. Hypothermia, fluid balance, pain, oxygen support, drain and wound care, infection control, GI health and catheter care must be addressed to assure success. These points will be reviewed and management strategies presented during the lecture.
