Why not taking advantage of your ultrasounds machine for diagnosing orthopedic problems? First using Beagle dogs, the participants will learn adequate positioning and handling of the probe to optimize the evaluation of most joints (especially the shoulder, elbow, stifle and tarsus) and some other musculoskeletal structures. After a short introducing lecture, the participants will start the interpretation lab. During the workshop participants will review in groups, video clips of common musculoskeletal disorders. Groups of 2 participants around a computer station will review clinical cases. For each case, a brief clinical history will be provided. The groups will then engage in identifying abnormalities and reaching a differential diagnosis list with pertinent clinical recommendations to manage the animal. Organizing the findings, prioritizing the differential diagnoses and interpretation tips will then be discussed with all groups.
