Otitis externa is certainly one of the most common problems seen in clinical practice. After reviewing the anatomy and physiology of the ear canal and the pathophysiology and diagnostic approach of otitis in the first lecture, in the second lecture on this topic we will be discussing the management of otitis externa. We will put special focus on treatment of chronic and recurrent cases, this can seem an impossible task! We will talk about how to manage chronic otic inflammation, chronic proliferative changes, how to interpret bacterial culture and susceptibility test results, and how to deal with multi-drug resistant bacterial infections, including Pseudomonas otitis.
