This lecture will explore the investigation and diagnosis of dogs and cats with extrahepatic congenital portosystemic shunts. We will review the pathophysiology of the condition and the resultant clinical signs and laboratory abnormalities. We will also cover liver function tests and the various imaging techniques. This will allow delegates to be confident with identifying animals with suspected shunts and the options for confirming the diagnosis.
