Anaemia is a relatively common finding in dogs and cats. In some cases anaemia may be the primary concern, in others the anaemia may be part of a more complicated presentation. Anaemia can be approached in a logical stepwise manner; in particular in terms of problem solving the cause and when navigating decision-making around treatment options.
This lecture will discuss the approach to anaemia by considering firstly the circumstances where a clinician should evaluate for anaemia, then a discussion of the triage of these patients, followed by a logical approach to problem solving to arrive at the most likely differential diagnoses.
