Carpal arthrodesis is a salvage surgery indicated when there is a non-repairable joint injury. In the carpus, the indications are diverse and a panarthrodesis or a partial or distal arthrodesis of the carpus may be more convenient depending on the injured area.
The different indications will be described, as well as the different techniques and the various available plates in the market, to finally describe in detail the surgical technique both for panarthrodesis and distal arthrodesis, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages.
Finally we will discuss about complications, and the essential points to avoid them.
The entire presentation will be supported by examples and clinical cases
