RESUMEN CORTO - SHORT SUMMARY:

Skin shrinkage occurs when there is denaturation of collagen and elastin, as they are proteins that participate in the skin's plasticity, strength, resilience, and extensibility. The CO2 LASER presents numerous surgical advantages, both intraoperatively and postoperatively. The study was performed on a sample of 80 animals (n=80), and evaluated the skin retraction in surgical incisions made by CO2 laser. In Purebred dogs statistically significant diferences were registered between skin retraction and Age (p=0.005), Power (p=0.033) and Weight (p=0.012;Rho=0.46).Mode and Breed are the main parameters responsible for skin retraction. The result of this study allows us to use these parameters in our favor, to increase or decrease skin retraction, as desired.
