A graduate from Toulouse – France, Dr. Déjardin, completed his Residency and MS with SP Arnoczky at MSU. Dr. Déjardin is the Wade O. Brinker Endowed Chair of Veterinary Surgery. He is a Professor and Head of Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery as well as a Founding Fellow of the ACVS Minimally Invasive Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship.
Dr. Déjardin authored ~85 research proposals (~$7M), 8 inventions and 2 US patents on interlocking nail and sacroiliac instrumentation. He received several prestigious awards in veterinary and human medicine as well as engineering. His publications include >160 papers and abstracts, ~400 proceedings, 20 book chapters and ~475 presentations.
As an AO Foundation International Faculty and former Trustee, he regularly speaks at national and international meetings and continuing education courses. He started a Minimally Invasive Osteosynthesis (MIO) program at MSU in the early 2000s’ and developed a novel interlocking nail suited for MIO, well as a new technology devised for the MIO of sacroiliac luxations. Since 2009, Dr. Déjardin created and chaired the first comprehensive AOVET Master Course on MIO.
His clinical interests include comparative orthopedic and traumatology, MIO, elastic osteosynthesis, revision surgery, joint replacement as well as robotics and navigation. His research activity focuses on biomechanics, implant and instrument design, joint replacement and robotics and navigation.
