Neoplastic disease is a common condition in exotic companion mammals. Currently there are only a few known treatments used to treat tumors in exotic patients, such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and antihormonal therapy. Other uncommon treatments include cryotherapy, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, immunotherapy, hyperthermia, antiangiogenic agents, metronomic chemotherapy, and as well as complementary and alternative therapies. A relatively new therapeutic modality, Electrochemotherapy (ECT), is described to treat mainly solid tumors in dogs, cats and horses. Due to its effectiveness, low toxicity, ease of administration, and relative low cost, could be a viable and promising option in exotic pet patients.
