There is no gold standard in veterinary medicine for guidelines for the use of blood products for the treatment of hemorrhagic shock. There are few veterinary publications that investigate resuscitation patterns using blood. However, with the knowledge of clear identification of physical examination parameters and knowledge of physiology, the veterinarian can make informed decisions to direct the appropriate therapy to the patient with hemorrhagic shock. This presentation will highlight these ideas and use patient examples to highlight the options.
