Hemorrhagic shock is a complex disorder that may result from a wide range of injuries such as trauma, neoplasia, surgical complications, etc. While it is a type of hypovolemic shock, it is associated with specific cellular injuries and pathologic responses. Early recognition is important to improve patient outcomes, while it is also important to keep in mind the limitations of some of our clinical monitoring and diagnostic tools. We will also discuss the specificities of resuscitation from hemorrhagic shock that may differ from that of other types of shock.
